The John P. Bird Scholarship was established in 1930! It was transferred to our chapter in 1974.

The Fairmont Railway Motors Foundation/ Richard & Maxine Wade gave our chapter $52,000 in 1989. In 2006, Maxine Wade added $4,400 to these funds!

Scholarship America, located in St. Peter, MN, is the national headquarters for all Dollars for Scholars chapter.

You can establish a stand alone endowed scholarship in the Fairmont chapter with a contribution of $10,000.

The Marjorie L. McClain Estate willed the chapter $475,000 in 2008, which is the largest endowed scholarship ever established.
- In 2010 the Fairmont chapter awarded scholarships totaling $132,000 to 134 Fairmont High School graduates. Since 1974, the chapter has awarded 2,600 scholarships totaling $1,693,029.
- In 2010, Lorraine Balske, chapter secretary since 1978 was named National Volunteer of the Year by Scholarship America, the parent organization for our chapter. Shcolarship America awarded Lorraine $1,000 for this award which will be used to fund a Lorraine Balske Scholarship in 2011.
