"Fairmont High School Class of 1965 gathered the weekend of Sept. 11, 2010, to celebrate their 45th reunion. Activities began Friday evening with the Fairmont/Marshall football game. During halftime classmates Bruce Johnson and John Larsen presented a check for $6,700 to Dan Kerberg of Fairmont Dollars for Scholars. In the year of 2000 class members began looking for some meaningful way to give back to their community. They conceived the idea of a scholarship fund and, in 2005, contributed $10,000 to become the first Fairmont High School graduating class to establish their own Dollars for Scholars fund. Class members donated an additional $6,700 this reunion raising their scholarship fund to $16,700. The Class of 1965 is happy to see other classes joining the cause and pleased to know that Dollars for Scholars will be the big winner."
